Anyone who knows me knows that my favorite movie has always been “Dirty Dancing”, although now it shares my heart with “Wonder Woman”.
I’d always wanted to travel to Mountain Lake Lodge, a resort where some of the iconic scenes from Dirty Dancing were filmed, including the lake scene.
The trip there wasn’t easy, I had to take two planes from Madrid and a taxi to take me to the hotel, since they don’t have a pick-up service at the airport, but, after Pablo’s death, I needed to get out of here and, although at first I thought about going to New York, in the end I decided to go see where my favorite movie was filmed, it was “now or never”, and there, of course, I had a drink in memory of Pablo.
I also took the opportunity to do an interview from there for the “Too Opinionated” podcast, as it was going to be my fifth interview with them. I was the first artist they’ve interviewed five times, and I wanted to do something special, so I couldn’t think of anything better than doing it from there.
During this report, you can see some videos. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube Channel (Silvia San Martín).
The trip was tough, I won’t deny it, for many reasons, but I was able to feel like an actress in the film and do many of the activities you can do there. Without a doubt, I loved having Scott teach me how to shoot a bow, so I could train to star in the next Wonder Woman film. You can see all the activities you can do there on the Mountain Lake Lodge website, as well as the dates of the Dirty Dancing-themed weekends taking place there:
I’m also grateful for the kindness of Scott, who can show you nature better than anyone, and Evelyn, who will help you buy all the Dirty Dancing merchandise you want at the shop there. I also can’t forget the kindness of Neslie at the front desk. They all make your stay more enjoyable.
And thanks to my good friend Murray Middleman, who helped me solve all the problems from California, as I was in the middle of the mountains, far from everything, where it was almost impossible to find a taxi, and I was in a country that wasn’t my own.
I barely took any photos, but I did take plenty of videos so you can see how beautiful the place is and get to know it better.
Here’s a beautiful video of the place I took while everyone was asleep:
My favorite moment at Mountain Lake Lodge was when Scott showed me how to use a bow and arrow like Wonder Woman:
I didn’t know where Scott was taking me, but I trusted him, the excellent guide at Mountain Lake Lodge (Virginia), one of the main locations where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed:
The lake jump scene is iconic in Dirty Dancing. Patrick Swayze stood on these two blocks to pick up Jennifer Grey, Baby, in Dirty Dancing. The water was so cold they had to stop every five minutes while filming the scene. You can still see these two blocks at Mountain Lake Lodge (Virginia).
Walking around where the lake was in Dirty Dancing is quite an adventure. Now, there’s barely any water left, although it seems to fill and empty over the years. The lake scene is iconic in Dirty Dancing, and being inside is magical.
Thanks to Scott at Mountain Lake Lodge (Virginia) for showing me around. He’s a wonderful guide.
The “Dirty Dancing hotel” at Mountain Lake Lodge looked amazing from a distance:
At the second highest point in Pembroke, Virginia:
Overcoming everything to reach the highest point of the mountain (Mountain Lake Lodge). I trusted Scott and went with the flow…
At the highest point in the county and the third highest in Virginia… Joking around a bit with Scott:
But let’s go back to the beginning…
Here we are flying from Washington to Roanoke and then to Mountain Lake Lodge, one of the main locations where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed:
Here are several videos of my taxi ride to Mountain Lake Lodge from Roanoke. It’s a difficult drive to this beautiful location where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed, but I enjoyed the drive.
First walk through Mountain Lake Lodge just arrived after my long trip from Madrid:
Even in the mountains I have to go shopping…
Just arriving at Mountain Lake Lodge, I already felt like another Dirty Dancing star:
Taking in the scenery from my newly arrived cabin at Mountain Lake Lodge (Virginia), one of the main filming locations for Dirty Dancing
Just arrived at my “new little house” in the mountains. Mountain Lake Lodge (Virginia).
Walking through nature in Virginia. It’s incredible to see me walking through a place where there are no stores…
This is the resort cabin I stayed in. It’s called the “Sunset Cabin” and is located at Mountain Lake Lodge in Virginia, one of the main filming locations for the movie Dirty Dancing.
A short video in English showing the resort cabin where I stayed:

At the Mountain Lake Lodge shop, where they sell Dirty Dancing merchandise and where you can find lots of cute things. Evelyn will be very helpful.
Just before returning to Madrid, there was fog at Mountain Lake Lodge, and there had been a storm the night before; it seems they didn’t want me to leave…
“At the Dirty Dancing Restaurant” (Montain Lake Lodge)
“Breakfast at the Dirty Dancing restaurant” (Mountain Lake Lodge) in Pablo’s honor. A trip I had to make for him. I won’t forget you…
As the photo says, first love is never forgotten, although I would rather say “true love is never forgotten”:

Here are a few more photos. I took very few because I focused on making videos, and there’s one I’m saving for a future book…
Before going to Mountain Lake Lodge, I asked the excellent taxi driver, Rafayel, whom I thank for kindly driving me from one place to another, to take me to a shopping center in Roanoke where there was a Barnes & Noble store, since that’s where my books are now sold, and you can buy them on their website or order them from me directly. I remind you that my books are no longer sold on Amazon, and they don’t have my permission to continue selling them; you can only buy them on the Barnes & Noble website or by ordering them from me directly. Even though I was exhausted, I couldn’t resist stopping by:

At Mountain Lake Lodge’s Harvest Restaurant:

I couldn’t resist snapping a photo of my books, Encuentra el amor verdadero en Navidad, and the English version, Find your significant other at Christmas, along with my T-shirt merch for my new book, No me perdonaron que triunfara, If I could, you can, in English, on this armchair in my cabin, which I absolutely love. Please, if anyone finds a writer’s chair like this, send it to me.

A nice souvenir at the Dirty Dancing merchandise store at Mountain Lake Lodge:

It seems like I went to war, and almost, maybe I’ll tell it one day…

…But “Nobody puts Baby in a corner”:

And don’t miss the fantastic interview Mike did with me about my latest books, No me perdonaron que triunfara and the English version, If I Could, You Can, published along with my Silvia SM’s journal, for his podcast “Too Opinionated” from there:
You can buy all my books online at Barnes and Noble:
Thank you.
